Russo’s New York Style Pizza

Pretty decent size lunch special

I never got the opportunity to review this little St. George pizza joint during my last trip there, so I’ll go ahead and correct that now.  Russo’s is a NY style pizza place, meaning thin crust and big slices.  New Yorkers will fold these in half and eat them like a calzone.  On this day I got a slice of pepperoni, chicken bacon, along with some garlic knots.  Along with an ice-cold beverage, this lunch special ran me about $6.50.  With all things considered, this wasn’t bad at all.  As you can see from the picture above, the slice of pepperoni was a little greasy, but hey that is where all the flavor is right?  And it was nothing a napkin couldn’t take care anyway.  The garlic knots were soft and delicious, and the bacon alfredo was delicious.  I’ve always been a fan of thin crust pizza, because I feel you get more flavor, and less dough.  If you want dough, then get breadsticks, but if you want pizza, then get thin crust.  The taste was good, the pizza was prepared fast, and the prices was just about right, to a little on the cheap side.  All in all, it didn’t blow my socks off, but if you are in the area, it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try.
