I love exploring new territory, it makes me feel like I did when I was a kid growing up in an Air Force family.  Every few years we would move and there would be new playgrounds, woods, fields, and stuff to explore.  As is the case with me and Sandy, Utah.  I’ve reviewed a few places down this way, but recently discovered this little gem of a restaurant located a few blocks East of Jordan Commons.  Britton’s!!!

The dining room and staff made me feel at home.  I noticed as I was looking through the menu, many of the servers knew some customers by name.  There was a nice family atmosphere feel on the inside.  Before coming to Britton’s I did a little recon to gather together some intel thanks to the fabulous device created by Al Gore known as the Interwebs.  I read that they had awesome breakfast dishes here.  I also talked to a few co-workers about this place, and all of them loved it and raved about the burgers.  Looking through the menu, there was one particular item that drew my attention, and that was the hog burger.  I went with that and substituted my fries with English chips.  It’s not every day you get to have yummy English chips here in Utah.  The best way I would describe them are little pieces of mashed potatoes that are battered and fried.  Hmmmm.  Yummmy.

The Hog Burger plate has a lot going on.  Eat with caution, because if you finish this plate, you WILL be wanting a nap, because there is a lot of food to take in.  You know that Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne got 80 miles to the gallon on their hog while on their way to Colorado, only to discover what John Denver was full of?  But not to worry, if you don’t want to take that 400 mile drive down 1-80 in the middle of winter piggy back with your buddy on a little scooter, I would suggest trying this hog first.  Not ONE but TWO grilled cheese sandwiches serve as the bun with a huge burger, onions, and bacon all snuggled in nice and cozy on the inside.  Ah man.  Delicious!  The English chips and huge cup of fry sauce made this plate an absolute Utah beauty.  Even when I got back to the office a few hours later, I was walking to a meeting and smelled something awesome, but couldn’t figure out what it was.  I decided to give my fingers a little sniff, and they still had that butter grilled cheese sandwich smell to them.  I must have looked kinda strange walking into that meeting while sniffing my fingers.

I’m proud to have Britton’s Breakfast, Burgers, Shakes, and Fries as part of my food blog.  They run a fast and clean operation with high quality food and awesome burgers.  I don’t know if I got 80 miles to the gallon on this hog, but I can tell you it was the gift that kept giving throughout the day.  (Use your imagination as to what that means)  I would suggest the hog burger if you are coming in for lunch, if you are an early riser and make it for breakfast, I would say the Garbage Hash looks like a good choice.  You can even get that smothered with chile verde.  This place doesn’t pull any punches for the food lover.

    You should venture East to Manila, Ut up by Flaming Gorge and visit Browning’s. You won’t be disappointed.

      I actually have heard of Brownings, and I want to take some trips this year with the family, so I’ll put Flaming Gorge on the list!
